At the outset, I wish all contributors and readers a very academically productive New Year. This year, let us collate our data and our thoughts on our practice and research and get writing for our journal. In this regard, I would welcome a consistent momentum from vascular surgery program mentors and their trainee fellows toward this goal.

In this first issue of IJVES for 2016, we start with an important paper from Trivandrum and Bengaluru on the management of aortic diseases. It showcases a large experience from two major tertiary care hospitals in South India outlining their approach to aortic surgery for various pathologies.

Profs. Unnikrishnan and Tripathi are well known for their aortic work, and this article aims to set a chain reaction of collaboration and reporting of outcomes between teaching departments in our country.

Dr. S. E. H Naqvi et al. have highlighted their experience of deep vein thrombosis in North India. Authors from Egypt have published their work on transobturator bypass, and we also have a review on acute mesenteric ischemia from Oman.

Hope you enjoy this issue and are inspired to be a part of it in future.
