  Ijvs Top

The Indian Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (IJVES) was founded in 2014 as the official publication of the Vascular Society of India. The editor-in chief was Dr. Ramesh Tripathi who was proposed to be changed by the GBM in the annual conference of VSI in 2016. So, it was proposed that under the able guidance of Dr. K. R. Suresh, a new editorial board would take over from April 2017 issue. Since then, the new board with 4 new associate editors and assistant editors under the enthusiasm and able guidance of editor-in-chief Dr. Suresh, has published two issues. The reformed board is now working towards improving the numbers and quality of the submissions, has made the publication cost of the journal self sustainable by advertisements and further plans to make the journal bi-monthly instead of four issues per year.

The board has met twice till now in the meetings of the editorial board (EB) in which the functioning of the board has been reformulated and it is constantly discussed as to how to take the journal to new heights. The EB has also taken forward the efforts to make IJVES an indexed journal to add more value to the efforts made by the authors in submitting their research to this peer reviewed publication. It is noteworthy to state that not only our national trainees and authors are more motivated to submitting their work to IJVES, but the submissions from overseas has also substantially increased.

It were the efforts of the previous EB under the flagship of Dr. Tripathi that the IJVES was made from a dream into a tangible reality, and now it is the onus of the new EB under the guidance of Dr. Suresh to take this very journal to unimaginable heights. It is made sure by the board that for the future members of the EB, apart from being a matter of pride by being a part of this legacy, they are trolled, grilled and motivated for discipline, hard work and academic excellence to benefit the journal which is transforming from its infancy to childhood. The board at present comprises of the president, secretary and treasurer of the VSI by default, editor-in-chief Dr. K. R. Suresh, associate editors- Dr. Kumud Rai, Dr. Edwin Stephen, Dr. Robbie George and Dr. V. S. Bedi. The assistant editors- Dr. Tapish Sahu, Dr. Ajay Savlania, Dr. Sairam Subramanian and Dr. Ambarish Satwik are the real workhorses and this EB will continue for 4 years with staggered exits and new recruitments as per the laid guidelines of the board.

It is a constant appeal to all the VSI members to increase their submissions to IJVES to have more and more of Indian published data, so that we can showcase to the world our works and methods to the International Vascular Community. The flag of IJVES should be held high so that every VSI member feels proud of their collective, official publication and every member should feel the responsibility to make IJVES grow by leaps and bounds and reach new heights in the times to come.

Any suggestions or remarks are most welcome. Please email at ijec.krs@gmail.com or secretaryvsi@gmail.com.
